Week 4- Hardware/ Privacy

Having the best hardware available at a low price would be advantageous for my entrepreneurial project. Computers could be useful in many ways for my project, including storing and using any necessary information, and potentially running simulation programs to test different versions of my helmet.

A high quality graphics card would be helpful in this regard. I could use images to demonstrate the effectiveness of my product to potential buyers. I could also use it to view videos of head to head collisions that resulted in injury. From these I could possibly gain further insight into ways of improving my design.

Hardware security would become a bigger issue as more money is put into this project. I would have to take many steps to insure that any money going into the project actually goes to the projects and not some computer hackers wallet.

I also learned this week how important it is to dispose of computer memory correctly. It is not good enough to just delete files. This would be important in terms of my project because if any information I used was leaked to competitors, it could be devastating to my success.

Week 3- Social Media Privacy/ Excel

As the one pitching this idea it is vital for me to avoid making any embarrassing information about myself known to the public through any means of social media. To do so may jeopardize the success of the project. A good place to start would be to google myself and make sure there is no false information floating around out there. Next I would check on the privacy settings on my facebook and twitter accounts.

This concept may also come into play if I was to create a facebook or twitter page about my product or the business associated with it. I would follow the same guidelines for these and also be sure not to give the passwords for these out to anyone- even people I am working with- because you never know how those relationship can turn. It is more important to maintain these websites than my personal ones because of the higher number of likely viewers and the intent of these viewers.

Microsoft Excel would be very useful when dealing with the numbers surrounding my idea. All financial aspects involved would most likely be handled through this program. It would also be useful when testing different models of my product. I could use conditional formatting to show models that went over a certain impact threshold during testing, and rule them out.

Week 2- Social Media

My idea for this project is to create a new product to address one of the biggest issues in the sport of football. This issue is concussions, and my product is a new variation of protective headgear aimed to reduce the number of concussions in the game. Considering the recent discoveries in the long-term and profound effects of concussions on athletes, I believe this would be a much-welcomed improvement.

Social media has played a role in my choice for this project. There has been a fair amount of buzz through social media on this topic in the past year. Twitter is the one that I have noticed, with mentions coming from Twitter accounts with connections to the NFL, as well as from numerous players.

It would be important to use social media to spread the word of my product as well. Social media is a great way to get the information out there because of the vast amount of people that use the different websites.
